The Person Who Says They Don't Do Drama Always Does

The person who says they don't do drama always is la gran actriz. Not a phase. Not coincidence. A pattern reliable enough to function as a rule.

The person who announces, early and often, that they don't do drama is always near the middle of some.

The announcement is not a description of their actual character. It is a reframing strategy. They are proactively positioning themselves as the rational party in advance of whatever irrational thing is coming.

And an entire shit-nado and shit-nado 2-4 are surely on the way with them.

"I don't do drama" means: when things get hard between us, I am going to describe you as dramatic so I don't have to examine my own contribution to whatever issue exists and I absolutely will take zero responsibility.

It is one of the most useful pieces of social information you can receive about a person, and almost no one knows to use it.

The people who actually don't do drama don't announce it. They just aren't dramatic.

That's it.

They handle conflict directly.

Then they move on.

They don't need their social environment to validate their self-image as a calm person.

If someone tells you this early in the relationship, make a note. Highlight it. Underline it. Bold it.

Then proceed accordingly and with open eyes.

Start there. Everything else waits.
